Town weren’t always at their slick best, as illustrated at Southampton two weeks’ ago, but they did enough to deserve a win over Bobby Robson’s Newcastle side. |

Villa 2 - 1 Town Sat 10th Mar 2001 18:24 Town will see themselves as very unfortunate to have come out of this game without even a point. Despite rarely playing at their best the Blues were the better side for most of the game. Town went ahead through Alun Armstrong halfway through the first half, but two Julian Joachim goals in the second half gave Villa the three points. |
Town 3-1 Bradford Sun 04th Mar 2001 19:09 Sky viewers were treated to a thoroughly entertaining game at Portman Road this afternoon. Two stunning Martijn Reuser strikes put Town ahead after Benito Carbone had put Bradford in the lead with an equally superb strike in the first half. Mark Burchill scored Town's third, although Hermann Hreidarsson might have a claim on it too. |
Reserves 1-1 Southampton Wed 14th Feb 2001 21:00 Town’s reserves will feel they should have won this evening’s 1-1 draw with Southampton. Despite going ahead through a fantastic Abidallah goal and playing the latter part of the second half against ten men Town conceded a late equaliser |
Birmingham 4-1 Town (aet) Wed 31st Jan 2001 23:59 Town fans watched their side crash out in a depressing game at Birmingham’s St Andrew’s. A number of bad defensive errors allowed the home side to score four goals as Town failed to hold on to their 1-0 advantage from the first leg. |
Chelsea 4-1 Town Sat 20th Jan 2001 18:55 Bad defending and bad refereeing condemned Town to their second 4-1 away League defeat in succession. An early goal from Marcus Stewart, his seventh in consecutive games put the Blues ahead, but an equaliser on half-time and a disastrous second half followed. Morecambe 0 - 3 Town Sat 06th Jan 2001 18:11 Town negotiated the potential banana-skin at Morecambe without any real moments of drama, winning 3-0. Goals from Marcus Stewart, Alun Armstrong and Jermaine Wright saw the Blues home in the face of feisty, but limited opposition. |
Town 3-0 Spurs Sat 30th Dec 2000 15:13 Devastating Town took a woeful Spurs side apart at Portman Road 3-0, but it could have been even more. Town took the lead through a Marcus Stewart goal in the 8th minute. Second half goals from Alun Armstrong and substitute Jamie Clapham sealed the result. But for a number of excellent saves from Neil Sullivan, the crossbar preventing James Scowcroft and a disallowed goal from Titus Bramble Town might have won by even more. |
Man Utd 2 - 0 Town Sat 23rd Dec 2000 18:04 Two Ole Gunnar Solskjaer goals condemned Town to a 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford. A dominating first half performance saw the Champions to victory, although Town came back much stronger in the second half. |
